Pay it Forward!

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a Pay it Forward exchange. I love the idea: you can receive a personal, handmade gift from a talented crafter, and all you have to do is "pay it forward" and agree to do the same for three people.

I was lucky enough to come across Hillary's offer to pay it forward and accepted. And now I need to find three people to accept my offer.

If you would like to receive a handmade gift from me, and are willing to make and send a handmade gift along to three of your blog readers, please let me know in my comments. Once you accept, you will receive something from me within 365 days. In turn, you will have 365 days to fulfill your end of the bargain.

Pretty neat, no?

[PS. I would especially appreciate any comments that make me smile today. I got a speeding ticket on my way into the office today. Boo.)

  1. Oh my goodness!!! I would love to recieve one of the amazing things you make!!! I have seen this before around the blog world, and was pretty intimidated by it...but 365 days to make 3 gifts...shouldn't be a hard thing to do! I want in....

I found your blog about a month ago -- and you have inspired me to start quilting again (I began knitting about 7 years ago and totally forgot I even owned a sewing machine in the excitement of it!) Now, thanks to seeing all the beautiful work you do, I have 2 quilts in progress, and have purchased enough fabric to make 6 more - I am serious! You have really lit a fire in me to sew and make quilts ... even though I am nervous to try machine quilting. I see what you have made, and the lovely quilts you have received through swaps, and really want to sew again!

    I would be thrilled to receive something from you -- and would love to make things for 3 others (a year is a good time frame to slip in 3 extra projects), and I like the concept of random acts of kindness.

    Longtime reader, first time poster. I am a brand spanking new quilter, inspired by you and several other talented quilting bloggers. So much so that I've started my OWN blog, and can't wait to start posting some projects (first ever quilt is in mid-bind as we speak!)

    Love the things you make, and your tutorials are great!

    Speeding tickets happen (as parking tickets, which seem to be my forté), the only thing you can do is to pay them and then pretend it never happened!

  8. You are in NC, right? My son goes to college down there and got a speeding ticket. He went and talked to the prosecutor (don't know if that's what they call it in NC but that's what they call it in NJ) and got it reduced significantly - so don't just pay it! He got it down to no points - he may have had to do a one day safe driving course or something, not sure. Good luck!

  9. I just finished a PIF on my blog last month. It was so. Stinking. Fun! Enjoy! (Oh, and if any of the other eight people who commented before I did don't want to play, please count me in!)

    Boo about the bad day. Yesterday was eventful for me, too: two flat tires, two diaper leaks, and one sore baby who fell of the bed. Somehow the day was wonderful. I chalk it up to good friends who came to my rescue. I hope you have some good friends in your neck of the woods.

  11. I would love to pay it forward!! I would gladly pay your speeding ticket if you can/will remove the "Spider-Man" spider webs that my 4yr old son sprayed onto the kitchen ceiling. They have dried and become one w/ the ceiling! I'm trying to decide if I want to repaint the ceiling or tell people that it's the newest decorative accent for kitchens!!

  12. A friend of mine just dropped off one of her beautiful watercolors as a donation for a charity auction--and ended up paying $74 for a speeding ticket on the way home! Unfortunately, she can't write the ticket off her taxes! Maybe this won't make you smile, but know you're not alone. Sometimes our "enthusiasm" gets the better of us (or maybe enthusiasm is really just a lead foot :)

    I think you have 3 for the PIF, but if someone else is looking for their 3, I'm game!

    I just finished serving as a juror for the first time ever and we found the defendant GUILTY AS CHARGED! Does that help with a smile?

Isn't it nice to see how many comments you received in such a short time!:) I couldn't have done it even if I was first because I don't have a blog!:) No worries...I am just extremely happy and grateful for all you have taught me this month in the Wonky world! I can't believe all the different possibilities there are once you know how to do these and I learned the wonky star!! I have finished one wonky for our couch and have one top done for my daughter and one cut out for my son and then there are the 25 squares I have made that are posted on the ORBC site....all because of you and Dana and Amy....so John....no worries about the speeding ticket!:)

  17. Hi John, sorry to hear about the ticket.
    Give the ticket to your boss and have him pay it! After all, its his/her fault for making you work today right? If that don't work, offer the judge/cop a quilt, that might get you outta the ticket. Congrats on the PIF. I participated in one and got to send a gift to the UK.. I guess you could say that my craftiness is global!!!

  24. Sorry about the ticket! You should definately see Nancy's video, its sooooo funny! and as the UK recipient of Gregs PIF, I'm working on my own PIF gifts as I type, quilting has no boundaries! Hope the week gets better :-)
